28 May 2026 - Everything You Need to Know About Water Slide Rentals

There is a moment every summer that every parent knows. The sun is blazing. The kids are restless. The paddling pool stopped being exciting approximately four summers ago. And everyone is hot, bored, and looking at you with that expectant expression that says "do something."

That is the moment a water slide rental changes everything.

One phone call. One delivery. And suddenly your backyard is not just a backyard anymore. It is the most exciting place in the neighbourhood. Kids are screaming with joy. Parents are taking videos. Neighbours are looking over the fence wishing they had thought of it first.

Water slide rentals in London, Ontario have become one of the most popular summer party choices for families, and it is not hard to understand why. They are thrilling, refreshing, and create the kind of memories that last long after the summer tan fades.

But if you have never rented a water slide before, you probably have questions. How do they work? What do you need to prepare? Which one is right for your event? How far in advance do you need to book?

This is your complete guide to everything you need to know about water slide rentals in London, Ontario.

Why Water Slides Beat Everything Else for Summer Fun

Before we get into the practicalities, let us talk about why water slides are in a league of their own when it comes to summer entertainment.

They work for every age group. Unlike some activities that only appeal to young children, water slides genuinely excite kids, teenagers, and adults alike. There is something universally thrilling about climbing to the top, letting go, and feeling the rush of the slide.

They keep guests entertained for hours. A water slide does not get boring after twenty minutes the way some activities do. Kids will go again and again and again. The queue forms naturally. The competition begins. Who can go the fastest? Who can splash the biggest? Hours disappear.

They create incredible memories. Water slide days have a special quality to them. The combination of heat, water, laughter, and shared excitement creates memories that stick. Ask any adult about their favourite summer childhood memory and there is a good chance water is involved.

They are the ultimate backyard upgrade. Your backyard is lovely. But a water slide transforms it into something extraordinary. For one day or one weekend, your home becomes the destination. The place everyone wants to be.

What You Need to Prepare Before Delivery Day

Getting your space ready before our team arrives makes the whole process faster, smoother, and more enjoyable. Here is exactly what you need to have in place.

Space Requirements

Every water slide has specific space requirements. Before you book, measure your available outdoor area carefully.

As a general guide:

  • The Wild Rapids Water Slide requires a setup area of approximately thirty feet by twenty five feet.

  • The Pirate Waterslide and Pool requires a setup area of forty five feet by twenty five feet.

  • The Triple Surf N Slide requires a setup area of twenty five feet by forty five feet.

When measuring, remember to account for a few extra feet on each side for anchoring, safe entry and exit, and crew movement during setup.

Not sure if your space is large enough? Contact us. We offer space consultations and can help you figure out what works for your specific yard.

Ground Surface

Water slides work best on flat, level grass surfaces. The grass provides natural cushioning and allows for safe anchoring with ground stakes.

Concrete or paved surfaces are generally not suitable for water slide setups as they cannot be anchored properly and increase the risk of slipping around the equipment.

If your yard has a slope, contact us to discuss your options. Gentle slopes can sometimes be accommodated depending on the specific setup.

Water Access

All wet play water slides require access to a garden hose connection. Make sure your outdoor tap is accessible and that your hose is long enough to reach the setup area comfortably.

If your hose is not quite long enough, pick up an extension hose before delivery day. It is a small detail that makes a big difference.

Electrical Access

Water slide blowers require a standard electrical outlet to operate. The blower runs continuously throughout your rental to keep the inflatable firm and safe.

Make sure you have an accessible outdoor outlet near the setup area. If your outlet is some distance away, we can bring an appropriate extension cord, but let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.

Gate Access

Our equipment needs to be transported through your property to the setup area. Make sure any gates are unlocked and wide enough for our team and equipment to pass through comfortably.

Measure your gate width if you are unsure. Standard inflatable delivery requires a gate width of at least three feet, though wider is always better.

Safety: Everything You Need to Know

Safety is never an afterthought at Ribbit Rentals. Every piece of equipment is inspected, cleaned, and safety-checked before every rental. But there are also important safety practices for you and your guests to follow.

Adult Supervision Is Always Required

This is non-negotiable. An adult must be present and actively supervising whenever children are using the water slide. Do not leave children unattended on inflatables at any time.

For larger events with many children, consider booking one of our trained attendants. They manage supervision, enforce safety rules, and give you the freedom to enjoy your event rather than spending it watching the slide.

Follow Age and Weight Guidelines

Every water slide has recommended age and weight guidelines. These exist for good reason. Mixing very young children with older, heavier children on the same slide at the same time increases the risk of collision and injury.

If your event has a wide age range, consider scheduling designated times for younger children and older children separately.

No Shoes, No Sharp Objects

Shoes must be removed before using any inflatable. Sharp objects including jewellery, belt buckles, and hair accessories with sharp edges should be removed before play.

One at a Time on the Slide

Unless specifically designed for simultaneous use like the Triple Surf N Slide racing lanes, water slides should be used one person at a time. Enforce this rule clearly and consistently.

How Far in Advance Should You Book?

This is one of the most common questions we receive, and the honest answer is as early as possible.

Summer weekends in London, Ontario fill up extremely quickly. Families start planning their summer parties as early as March and April, and popular dates disappear fast.

As a general guide:

  • For summer weekend dates especially July and August, book at least four to six weeks in advance.

  • For June dates, three to four weeks advance notice is usually sufficient.

  • For weekday summer events, one to two weeks is generally fine.

  • For full weekend rentals, book even earlier as these are extremely popular and availability is limited.

If you have a specific date in mind, do not wait. Contact us as soon as you know your plans and we will check availability immediately.

Wet Play vs Dry Play: Understanding the Difference

Some of our water slides offer both wet and dry play options. Understanding the difference helps you make the right choice for your event.

Wet Play

Wet play means the water slide is used as intended with a continuous water supply running down the slide surface. This creates the fast, slippery, splash-filled experience that makes water slides so exciting.

Wet play is ideal for hot summer days when guests want to cool down. It is best suited for private residential events where you can control the environment and manage wet surfaces safely.

Dry Play

Some units can be used without water as a dry slide. Dry play is suitable for cooler days, indoor venues, or events where wet play is not appropriate.

The experience is still fun and exciting, just without the splashing and soaking. If you are unsure which option is right for your event, contact us and we will help you decide.

Tips for Making Your Water Slide Day Truly Unforgettable

Create a proper party atmosphere. A water slide alone is fantastic. But combine it with a cotton candy machine, some giant lawn games, and a face painting station and you have a full carnival experience that keeps every guest entertained all day.

Set up a towel and changing station. Designate a dry area with towels, spare clothing, and sunscreen. Guests will thank you for thinking ahead.

Plan your food and drinks thoughtfully. Keep food away from the water slide area to prevent slipping hazards. Set up a separate food and refreshment zone where guests can eat and drink comfortably.

Capture the memories. Water slide days produce incredible photos and videos. Designate someone as the official photographer or set up a spot where guests can take their own photos between slides.

Book a trained attendant. For larger gatherings, a professional attendant manages the slide, enforces safety rules, and keeps things running smoothly. It is one of the best investments you can make for a stress-free event.

Have a plan for shade. Long days in the summer sun can lead to sunburn and overheating. Make sure there is shaded seating available for guests who need a break from the sun.
